Staff hierarchy & roles
The Hierarchy describes how your team is organised: several possible branches (moderation, events, technical…), each with its ordered grades and its associated Discord roles.
Creating a hierarchy
Section titled “Creating a hierarchy”The New Hierarchy button opens a form:
- Hierarchy name: for example Moderation, Events.
- Description: what this branch is for.
- Color (Hex) and Emoji / Icon, to tell it apart visually.
- Responsible Discord Role and Responsible Member.
- Parent hierarchy: lets you nest branches and build the org chart.
Creating a staff role
Section titled “Creating a staff role”The New Role button pairs a staff grade with a Discord role.
Pick the Discord role
The search field filters the server’s roles. You can also create a custom role with no Discord counterpart.
Attach it to a hierarchy
Or leave it outside if it is global.
Give it a weight
The Role weight / level decides its place in the order. That is how Kotbo knows what a promotion is.
Mark the chief if needed
The Hierarchy chief option adds the Chief badge and pushes the role to the top of the org chart.
Ordering the roles
Section titled “Ordering the roles”Roles can be rearranged by drag and drop within their hierarchy. Kotbo saves the order as you go and says so with a Saving order… message.
Each role card recalls its weight, the linked Discord role (or the Custom role label) and offers the Edit and Delete actions.
What the hierarchy changes elsewhere
Section titled “What the hierarchy changes elsewhere”- Promotions and demotions in the Directory follow the weight order.
- Staff polls weight votes by grade.
- Tutoring checklists can target a specific hierarchy and grade.
- Staff server synchronisation relies on these roles.
