Using Suggestions on Discord

On Discord, the Suggestions module lets members take an active part in improving the server by submitting ideas and voting on the community’s proposals.

Once the module is active, any authorised member can submit a proposal with the following slash command:

+/suggestsuggestion:Yourdetailedideaorsuggestion

As soon as the command is confirmed, Kotbo posts a structured embed in the designated suggestions channel.

The embed generated by Kotbo contains the following information:

  • Author: the username and avatar of the member who proposed the idea.
  • Content: the full text of the suggestion.
  • Initial status: shown by a grey colour (pending).

Two buttons at the bottom of the embed let members react:

  • Upvote (👍): to support the suggestion.
  • Downvote (👎): to register disagreement.

Each member can only vote once per button. The vote counters on the buttons update dynamically.

As soon as a moderator or administrator approves or rejects the suggestion from their dashboard:

The embed’s border colour immediately reflects the decision:

  • Green: suggestion approved.
  • Red: suggestion rejected.
  • Blue: suggestion implemented.

The embed updates on Discord to show:

  • The suggestion’s official status.
  • The username of the staff member who handled it.
  • The mandatory comment the staff wrote on the dashboard (justifying the approval or refusal, or describing the rollout).
  • The vote buttons may be disabled or hidden depending on the final status, to freeze the result.
