Server rules

The Server rules module holds your server’s rule articles, publishes them on Discord in a message kept up to date automatically, and can gate access to the server on accepting them.

The New Rule button opens the form:

  • Rule title (required), for example Respect and courtesy.
  • Emoji (optional), standard or custom.
  • Detailed description, which supports Markdown.
  • Active and visible rule: controls its public visibility and its synchronisation.

A live preview shows the result to the right of the form.

Articles can be reordered by drag and drop, or with the Move Up and Move Down buttons. The dashboard order is the published message order.

Each article carries a Visible or Hidden badge, and the header shows how many articles are active out of the total.

Deletion requires typing a confirmation word.

  1. Pick the Publish Channel. With no channel, Kotbo refuses to publish.
  2. Click Publish rules.
  3. After a change, Update message refreshes the existing message rather than creating a new one.

Automatic synchronisation keeps the Discord message aligned with the dashboard list. Every publication is announced in the staff announcement channel; no member is notified by direct message.

This option adds an acceptance button under the rules message.

  • Verification: turns the button on.
  • Assigned role: the role granted on acceptance. Leave it empty for Kotbo to create a Vérifié role automatically.
  • Lock: hides the other channels until the member accepts.

Mind the permissions

Enabling verification can create Discord permission conflicts and inadvertently give @everyone read access to some private channels. Check that your private channels explicitly deny the read messages permission to @everyone before turning this on. Kotbo shows this warning and asks for confirmation.
