Events & quizzes

The Events module creates three kinds of activity: quizzes, CTFs (security challenges) and custom events with sign-ups.

Three indicators open the page: Total Events, Ongoing and Participations / Registrations.

Type Tag What it is
Quiz Questions & Answers Multiple-choice or free-text questions, to test your community’s knowledge.
CTF Hacking & Security Computer-security challenges with hidden flags, a real-time leaderboard and roles as rewards.
Custom Registration & Announcement A Discord event, a polished announcement and sign-ups by form or by button.

An event moves through the Draft, Published, Ongoing, Completed and Cancelled statuses.

The General Configuration is shared by all three types:

  • Event title and Description.
  • Announcement Channel (or None to announce nothing).
  • Registration Form: a form from the Forms module, or None for direct button sign-up.
  • Start date and End date (optional), in local time.
  • Location: Discord, in person, and so on.
  • Create the event on Discord: adds it to the server’s scheduled events.
  • Send an announcement embed: posts a message with a sign-up button.

An event can launch by itself:

  • Manual: no trigger.
  • Member count reached: set the target member count.
  • Scheduled: set the launch date and time.

The Trigger Status then reports Pending, Triggered or Failed.

The Add a question button creates an entry with its question text and its answer options. Tick the circle to the left of the correct answer.

The Import CSV button loads a batch of questions. The file must contain the Question, Option X and Bonne Réponse columns.

The Add a challenge button creates an entry with:

  • Challenge title and Description / Brief;
  • Expected flag and Points;
  • XP Reward and Reward role (both optional);
  • Image URL (optional).

The Control button opens the control room.

  • Next Question and Previous move the quiz forward or back.
  • Progress is shown as Question X / Y.
  • The Chart tab shows answers arriving live.
  • The Participants tab ranks players by Score and shows their last answer.
  • Finish Quiz closes the event.

The Challenges tab counts solves per challenge and lists the latest solves. The Participants tab ranks players by score and by last solve.

The Registrations tab lists sign-ups with their registration date and the answers to the linked form. The Remove button cancels a registration.
