Signing in & choosing a server

The dashboard uses your Discord account to work out which servers you can access. There is no separate Kotbo account to create.

Sign in with Discord

Open the dashboard

Go to the Kotbo Dashboard ↗ or to the address provided with your installation.

Click “Sign in with Discord”

Discord shows the OAuth authorisation page. Check that the account offered is the one you use on your server.

Authorise access

Kotbo only reads the information needed to sign you in and to list the servers you can access.

Using several Discord accounts?

Sign out of the wrong account from Discord in your browser, then start the dashboard sign-in again.

Choose the server to administer

Once you are signed in, the active server appears in the top left. Click its name to open the switcher. You can also use Ctrl + G (or ⌘ + G on macOS).

You only see the servers where Kotbo is installed and where your role has dashboard access.

Adding Kotbo to a new server

The switcher only shows servers that are already equipped. At its bottom sits an Add Kotbo to a server entry (See all my servers), which opens the My servers page: it lists every server you administer, and offers an invite button on those that do not have the bot yet.

On a server that has just received Kotbo, the dashboard is not reachable yet: you are taken through the setup journey, which builds the server and then opens the steering.

Without a subscription, no module is active

Kotbo is sold as an all-in-one product, at a price decided by the server’s size. While no plan is subscribed, the bot is present but idle: only the core pages - dashboard, modules, settings, billing - stay reachable. See Plans & billing.

Understanding your access level

AdministratorAccess to configuration, modules and server management features.

ModeratorAccess to the operational tools you are allowed to use, without the sensitive settings.

Staff memberTargeted access to the pages tied to their duties and their Discord roles.

Note

The sidebar adapts automatically to your permissions. A missing page usually means your role has no access to it, or that the matching module is not enabled.
